Dmitri Danish Original Oils

Dmitri Danish was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine, in 1966. He was a natural artist from the start. His mother, an artist herself, was the first to discover Dmitri's talent and began to teach him to draw and paint. At age 12 he was accepted into a Kharkiv Art School, and by age 15 he was enrolled at the Kharkiv State Art College.

Danish's most favorite genre was cityscapes. He painted cities that he read about in books, cities that he heard about on the radio or in people's conversations. He created new countries in his mind and painted streets, canals, houses and quiet corners. His imagination was able to take him to those unusual and magical worlds that he saw in his dreams and his talent enabled him to paint what he saw in his dreams.

In college Dmitri became fascinated with Kharkiv, the city where he was born and raised. He painted various buildings, wooden houses and walls, small coffee shops under huge old trees.

In 1986 Dmitri graduated from college and began to teach art. After graduation Dmitri went into the army for two years and as soon as he returned, he immediately enrolled into The Kharkov State Academy of Art and Design.

During his studies, Dmitri worked as a set designer in an Opera Theater and at an advertising agency as a creative director and designer.

After two years of working in the Art field he became a member of the prestigious Union of Ukrainian Artists. His career of a fine artist took off and he began to exhibit in Ukraine, Russia and other Eastern European countries.

In the year 2000 the Kharkov State Museum of Fine Art conducted a solo exhibition of Danish's works called "La Citta" (The City). After the exhibition three of his paintings became part of the permanent collection of the Museum.

During 2000-2001, the New Jersey Museum of Modern Art purchased three of Danish's works.

Danish has traveled most of Europe since the opening of the Sopviet borders visiting cities and countries he dreamed about. He has spent time in Rome, Venice, Sienna, and in many cities of France, Holland, Portugal, Balkan countries, Hungary, Austria, Greece, and Turkey. Starting 2005 Dmitri started showing his work in the US in a variety of galleries on both the East and West Coasts.
